Ruth Benzacar Galería de Arte was founded by Ruth Benzacar in 1965. Her family was experiencing financial difficulties at the time, so Ruth decided to convert their house into an impressive gallery. Even though the gallery wasn’t successful on the onset, it soon became a popular place.
Today, the gallery is famous for its displays of artwork done by renowned artists and prodigies. It is now run by Ruth Benzacar’s daughter and grandson. Even though it doesn’t display artwork belonging to just one artistic movement, it is home to many contemporary art pieces, sculptures and photographs. As the institution is closely connected to Argentine artistic circles, you will be able to reach any Argentine artist thanks to the people that run the gallery.
Poetry nights and other cultural events are organized in the Ruth Benzacar Gallery, which make this place a center of the artistic life of Buenos Aires. The gallery is dedicated to true art fans, so make sure you visit their website to see which exhibitions are currently active in order for you to choose the ones you prefer.
