The Royal Residence Stiftsgården

The royal residence Stiftsgarden in Trondheim is the largest wooden villa with a beautiful royal garden and a small fountain. Today, it serves to accommodate the royal family when visiting the city. The building is imposing and shows architecture from the 18th century. It was built between 1774 and 1778 for Cecilia Christine Schøller, the ambitious widow of chamberlain Stie Tønsberg Schøller. It was built by her advisor. Lady Schøller was a representative of the cultural and commercial growth of Trondheim at the end of the 18th century and an example of a prominent social elite in the city.

Our Lady Church

The Church of Our Lady is a medieval stone church built around 1200 in the Romanesque-Gothic architectural style. According to some records, the church is also called the Church of the Blessed Virgin and during the Middle Ages it was dedicated to the Virgin Mary. This is one of the two preserved medieval churches in Trondheim and is worth a visit because of its history and appearance.

Sukkerhuset or Sugar House is one of the oldest preserved factories in the country. It is located in Sverres Gate 15 on Kalvskinnet in Trondheim, with a burgundy and yellow facade, with lots of small white windows, it looks impressive and you will not miss it. This sugar factory was built in 1754 and served as such until the middle of the 19th century. The owners imported raw sugar from the Caribbean with their ships and produced refined sugar in Sukkerhuset.
