In every big city people tend to spend their free time away from the crowds and in fresh air. In Lisbon, there are a large number of green oases ideal for a break from the hectic everyday life that everyone needs. Monsanto Forest Park is a place where the majority of the population in Lisbon escape from city events. It is one of the largest green spaces in the city and is known as the "lungs of Lisbon".
If you want to ride a bike, walk or just sit and observe this idyllic nature and soak up all the beauty and freshness, choose Florestal da Monsanto Park. The paths in the forest are well landscaped, and the park is so large that you do not notice the presence of people, but only listen to the twitters of birds. There are trails for cyclists, and there is an opportunity for jumps on some of them. The park also has children's playgrounds, picnic areas and the main camp of Lisbon, and in certain parts of the year, various sports and cultural events are organized here, which makes it even more attractive to visitors.
You won't go wrong if you choose this park as your recreational zone in Lisbon. It is nice to be in the city, but it is even better to explore the surrounding places and nature. And this protected green area, the forest, is located west of the city, and north of the Belem tower. It is known for a variety of trees and plants.
You can enjoy panoramic views of the city, the Tagus River and the Atlantic Ocean from the park.
