Istanbul:

Macka Democracy Park

Macka Democracy Park

Macka Democratic Park is located between Taksim Square and Macka Square. Here you can see all classes of society and all encounters take place in this place. It is a favorite place for walking, hanging out, jogging, for adults and children, and for those who like outdoor gym. The park is an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, yet it is close to the city. The history of the park begins in the 19th century after the expansion of the Dolmabahçe garden. Wealthy people of the Ottoman Empire used this place to ride horses, organize excursions and walk their pets.

The park is hilly, like many parts of Istanbul, so there are a lot of stairs and steep streets. The park can be entered from several sides. You can see people cycling, recreation, walking, running, reading books, but you can hear the sounds of guitars, children's voices from very well installed playgrounds for toddlers. There are also several bars in the park.

The park is also known for one ugly event, on December 10, 2016, when a suicide bombing was recorded, and the responsibility was taken by the Kurdistan Freedom Hawks. 4 police officers and one civilian were killed in the attack.

Entrance is free.
