The Vizcaya Museum & Gardens

The Vizcaya Museum & Gardens

The Vizcaya Museum is a beautiful site with gardens, a museum and village houses. It is a real treasure of Biscayne Bay. It has perfect architecture, it is breathtaking and worth the visit. In addition to gardens, you should not miss interior of the villa, spiral staircase and the magnificent view of Miami. This is a place where beauty meets history, like in a fairytale.

This places ‘wants’ you to take a photo of them. People book them for a photo shooting, commercials and movies, TV shows, but it of course comes at a certain price. It only goes on to show how inspiring this place is and that you should not miss it when visiting Miami. The most beautiful loves have left their traces here. Weddings just like those in movies, magical and romantic, are organized in the Vizcaya Garden. The garden can be booked every day of the year, unless it is a holiday or something has already been booked in advance.

The Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is the former villa and estate of businessman James Deering. The Mediterranean Revival architecture style, with Baroque elements, is present in the architecture of the place. You may notice the elements of Tuscany, as well as the spirit of France. Deering began the construction works in 1912. The villa was built in the period from 1914 and 1922, and the costs amounted to 15 million dollars. The Renaissance gardens were built later, somewhere around 1923. France and Italy inspired their design. Deering used the Vizcaya as his winter residence in the period from 1916 until his death in 1925. The Vizcaya was designed by Paul Chalfin, a painter, curator and interior designer. He supported Deering and encouraged him to collect art items and architectural elements for the project.

Some of the gardens were designed by a Colombian designer, while the façade follows the style from northern Italy. Upon Deering’s death, his family inherited the property, but over time, due to hurricanes and bad weather, they began to sell parts of the property.
