Miami:

The Wynwood

The Wynwood

Wynwood is Miami’s art district, it is popular because this place “never sleeps”. It is located in the urban part of Miami. There are numerous art galleries, craft shops and antique stores. It is the place of some of the biggest art installations in the world in open air. During the 1900s, Wynwood was known as an enclave with Caribbean emigrants. Until the beginning of the 21st century, this was the place of warehouses, deserted factories and old vacant apartment buildings.

Some artist gathered around the idea to transform it into different enterprises that would mainly be focused on street art. Old façades got makeovers – artists from all around the world painted them and thus showed their skills. That is how the present Wynwood came to be, the youth’s favorite place. In addition to art galleries, there are also famous bars, night clubs and boutiques. Some of the most important fashion and music events are held in Wynwood. Wynwood is a new era both in the world of art and culture. For that reason, there is a saying that a new era began there, the so-called “Wynwood Renaissance”.
