Yankee Stadium is the most famous baseball stadium located in Bronx. It is home field for the baseball team New York Yankees. Total costs of the stadium’s construction amount to $1.5 billion dollars. It has 52.000 seats, and the main stand has four levels. On the third level there are lux apartments, a total of 56 of them. The stadium was opened in 2009, replacing the old stadium that was located one block away. The old Yankee’s stadium was turned into Heritage Field park. It will always be remembered for many exciting games, and to this day it is considered one of the most significant stadiums in the world.
The old stadium was of highest significance, many sportsmen played there. Since the opening in 1923, the stadium was the best baseball stadium in the world – it used to be the Yankees’ home for 8 decades. Besides the Yankees’ emotional connection with it, the team wanted to provide their fans with a more luxurious and modern stadium.
The new stadium has some elements of the old one. The construction works lasted from 2006 to 2009. Besides baseball, many other sporting events, such as football games, boxing matches, hockey games, as well as music concerts, are held there. The Yankees played their first game there on 16 April, 2009 against then Cleveland Indians (now Cleveland Guardians). Even though the stadium is relatively new, some renovations were done during 2017.
If you get a chance, be sure to visit the stadium and watch a game – baseball scenes from movies are nothing compared to live games. Baseball fans will surely enjoy visiting the stadium as well as the atmosphere during a game.
