The Vienna State Opera may be one of the most beautiful theatres you will ever see. It is a building many people have heard about, and many of them have also visited it. The Vienna State Opera is a stage for soloists, composers, conductors and dancers. Ballet plays are held here regularly, over 300 times a year. French early Renaissance is a characteristic of the Opera, and the building was built n 1869. There are 2211 seats in total for the audience, and the Opera also holds the Vienna Philharmonic orchestra. It looks glamorous, gracious and expensive.
If you love music, apart from the Opera, we recommend that you visit a concert hall which serves as the home of the Vienna Philharmonic- Viener Musikverein and The House of Music (Haus der Musik). The Vienna Philharmonic is among the best in the world, and it was established in 1842. Its members were chosen from the Vienna State Opera orchestra.
This magnificent building, a very fine institution, was built in 1869, and it was officially opened with the notes of Don Giovanni by Mozzart. The Vienna Opera is a work by Viennese architects August Sicard von Sicardsburg and Eduard van der Null. Although today it is a wonderful, respected and magical building on Ringstreet, back in those days the public complained about it. It used to receive bad reviews, and was even compared to a sunken ship.
Over time, the Opera underwent many renovations. In 1955, after the war, it was opened again with the notes of Beethoven’s Fidelio.
Every year, a traditional opera ball / Opernball is held in the Opera, and apart from it, the Opera is known for its children’s opera plays. Since 2020, a Serbian man called Bogdan Roščić has been the director of the Vienna State Opera, after that place had been held by Dominique Meyer. That decision was made back in 2016.
Given the fact that the tickets for the Opera are something not everyone can afford, a canvas is placed in front of the Opera on which live music is streamed.
The tickets could be purchased on the following link. Please make sure that you buy the tickets as soon as you have the dates of your trip to Vienna as they get sold very fast.
