The Mediterranean Film Festival is one of the highest quality and most famous cultural events on the Adriatic, and every year it is visited by about twenty thousand visitors. The focus of the competition are films from Mediterranean countries, and through the accompanying programs, the audience can get acquainted with the cinematography of other European and world countries. It is becoming more and more common to ask for more tickets for evening screenings at the Bačvice open-air cinema. During the day, screenings are held in the Golden Gate cinema, which is part of Diocletian's Palace.
The first Mediterranean Film Festival was held on 27-31. May 2008. and was visited by more than 6000 people.
