Maribor:

The Koroški bridge

The Koroški bridge

Another bridge located on the Drava River is the Koroški Bridge. The link is between Studenci district and Koruška vrata. It was built in 1996, and the length of the bridge is 247 meters, with a width of 110 meters. It is considered that at the time of construction it was one of the more complicated construction projects in Slovenia. What everyone loves about this bridge is its north-east side which offers a beautiful view. It is also recognizable by its viewpoint. There is a view of the vineyards, on one side and of the city center, and directly from the bridge you can see Pohorje.

The people who worked on the design of the bridge were from the Ponting engineering office in Maribor, and the main person responsible was Marjan Pippenbacher. Slovenia and Maribor sponsored the construction of the bridge, while the construction was financed by the company Gradis. The bridge was officially opened by the then mayor of Maribor, Alojz Križman, on October 19, 1996. Before World War II, there was a plan to build a new bridge on the site of the Koruški bridge.
