On this page visitors shall find the list of best beaches to visit in Tenerife. Tenerife boasts numerous beaches covering the entire shore of the island. They are characteristic for their black volcanic sand, and the water is very shallow in certain areas.
The first on our list of the best beaches in Tenerife is Playa del Duque. This is an exquisite beach situated in Adeje in the south of Tenerife. The entire era is an exclusive resort, and the beach doesn’t lack the status either. Take a walk along the golden sand, feel it between your toes, take a swim in the warm, crystal clear water, relax in the comfortable sun beds in the great sun, while listening to the sound of waves that gently wash over the shore. Pure enjoyment!
The second best beach on our list is the Arena Beach. Playa de la Arena is a resort situated south from Los Gigantes and Puerto Santiago on the western shore of Tenerife. Near Los Gigantes, the cliff of Giants, a beautiful black sand beach is situated. The beach is covered completely in naturally black volcanic sand. The beach is one of the cleanest beaches on the island, and has received many European blue flags for its cleanliness.
The third place goes to The Fanabe Beach. It belongs to the Adeje area, one of the most expensive areas on Tenerife, which boasts many 4 and 5-star hotels. The longest beach on Tenerife is located in this area. Along the beach itself, there are many restaurants and bars which offer visitors cover from sunlight. The beach has no natural shade from the sun, so we recommend that our visitors bring their own parasols if they don’t want to rent them at the beach itself.
The 4th place on our list of the best beaches in Tenerife goes to Las Americas beach. Playa Las Américas is one of the main and most visited beaches of Tenerife. The beach is mostly visited by younger tourists and is considered a beach that is active 24 hours a day, as it is home to parties day and night. The youth go to the beach for its hedonistic qualities; a specially designated area of 1km in length is riddled with night clubs, cabare bars, live music spots, shops and restaurants.
The 5th best beach in Tenerife is Playa La Tejita. Located in El Médan, next to the volcanic cone of Montaña Roja (Red Mountain). The area is a protected natural reservation (part of the Montaña Roja National Reservation), which means that access by car is not permitted. Visitors can use the parking area located a few hundred meters from the beach itself. The beach is not very crowded, even though it is truly beautiful, and this is mostly due to the occasionally high waves that wash over it. The beach is perfect for surfers, as well as those who simply enjoy the colors of the waves while they bask in the sun. Sun beds are available for rent at the beach, and the beach is truly worth a visit.
One of the best beaches in Tenerife is also Garachico Natural Pools. They belong to the El Caletóna area in the north of Tenerife. They are located lose to the Castle San Miguel (16th century), as well as the Garachica stone, formed as a consequence of a volcanic eruption in 1706. At the time, the area was the most important pier on Tenerife, this clear water area is perfect for all who enjoy the open sea and bathing in natural pools.
