New York City:

The Central Park

The Central Park

Central Park is a modern urban park in the heart of Manhattan, the best known New York park – about 25 million tourist visit the park annually. The construction began in 1859 and it was finished in 1873. The park is completely arranged, with natural lakes, fishponds, pedestrian and running lanes, with picnic areas, riding tracks, ice rinks, a zoo and a greenhouse. Besides natural attractions, there are also sights to see in Central Park, such as the famous bridges that adorn the park, one of them being the Proposal Bridge which you must have seen in some Hollywood movies.

You may also try out a carriage ride – it lasts from 20 minutes to an hour, or you may visit the Strawberry Fields, a cultural monument commemorating the musical legend, John Lennon. You must not miss Bethesda Fountain, the most famous fountain in the city that is decorated with water lilies. Then there is the Alice in Wonderland statue, the Hans Christian Andersen statue, and Belvedere Castle. There are also English, French and Italian gardens, as well as Shakespeare Garden where flowers that he wrote about in his books grow. Far from city noise and crowd, both New Yorkers and tourists come to the park to enjoy and relax.

It is in Central Park that some of the best known movies, TV shows, music videos and advertisements have been filmed. The most beautiful and preserved photos of New York that show the greenery and skyscrapers reaching the sky were taken in Central Park.
