Ringstrasse or just Ring Road is the most important street in Vienna. This is a wonderful Viennese boulevard which encompasses the historical part of the city. Ring is the main promenade where many Viennese sights can be seen. Emperor Franz Joseph I had the intention of expanding the city , so on December 20th the construction of the boulevard began, very meticulously planned.
In 1865, the construction of the most important Viennese boulevard was finished. This street is 5,2km long, and because of its striking look, the term “Viennese Ring style” has been used in art history for a long time. The most significant buildings in the area of these 5 kilometres are: the Vienna State Opera, The Museum of Natural History, The Art History Museum, The University of Vienna, the Vienna City Hall (Rathaus), the Stock Market and the Parliament. These 5 kilometres of the boulevard are very pleasant for walking, since they are embellished with beautiful tree lines.
Apart from that, many popular cafes and restaurants found their place right on this location, because it is the best one in the city.
