The Mostar Gymnasium

The Mostar Gymnasium - Mostar is rich in many architectural buildings, including the most famous gymnasium, the former gymnasium named Aleksa Šantić. It was founded in 1893, and shortly afterwards its left and right "wings" were added, and that appearance has been retained to this day. It was one of the first and most recognized schools in the old Yugoslavia attended by many famous scholars and philosophers.

During and after the war, it was closed a couple of times and classes were held intermittently. In 1993, it was renovated and in 2003, the Public Institution of the First Gymnasium and the Gymnasium of Fr. Dominik Mandić were merged into one Mostar Gymnasium. Thus, it represented the first unification in the Herzegovina-Neretva County. In 2009, the Japanese government donated modern equipment for the computer room, thus facilitating the work of students and teachers. Classes are held in Bosnian and Croatian in two curricula.
