Homemade custard recipe

Homemade custard recipe - Creme Anglaise – a really thick, golden cream, the best friend of all who make homemade cakes. It is added to almost any dessery, and its creamy texture is a hit among those with a sweet tooth.

what you need:

  • 570ml milk
  • 55ml sweet cream
  • 1 vanilla pod or ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 30g sugar
  • 2 spoons of corn flour
Heat milk on medium heat, adding in the cream and vanilla. Take out the vanila pod (wash, dry and place in a jar of sugar to make vanilla sugar). Mix the egg yolks, sugar and corn flour in a bowl until combined. Combine the two mixtures, stirring constantly. Place the mixture into a cooking bowl (add vanilla extract if needed) and cook on low heat while mixing constantly until thick. Pour the cream into bowls and serve. In order to maintain the temperature, place the molds into hod water and cover with kitchen film to prevent thickening
