Vienna:

The Greenhouse Palmenhaus

The Greenhouse Palmenhaus

The Botanical Garden Palmenhaus is located next to the Schonbrunn Palace, built in 1881, as a greenhouse in Victorian style, which is something we are not accustomed to when it comes to Vienna. This wonderful greenhouse is 115 metres long, and 30m high. It consists of three pavilions, the central one and two secondary ones. An interesting thing is that in each pavilion you will encounter a different climate zone, in order for different plants to be able to survive.

When walking through the greenhouse, visitors may be cold, sometimes too hot and it all depends which pavilion they are in and what climate zone it is, adapted for the plants.

In free translation, Palmenhaus means- the house of palms, and it is the biggest in Europe, with as many as 4000 plants in it, that were brought there from all the 7 world continents. Very unusual plants that can be seen on some exotic destinations are the ones that you can see here, in this wonderful botanical garden. Some plants are very high, some are unusual, and some of them are very old and have lived in this place for a long time.

The ticket price for entering the garden is 6 euros.
