The Crandon Park

The Crandon Park

Miami is characterized by many nicely decorated parks with varied contents, and Crandon Park is definitely one of them. Crandon Park offers many different opportunities for fun and amusement. It has golf courses, tennis courts, an amazing beach, a port and a nature center where toy can watch seahorses, and it expands on 800 hectares. You can rent a bike, kayak, enjoy paddling or to have a picnic.

Businessman William J. Matheson used this land as a coconut plantation, and his heirs donated the land to the county under a condition it was turned into a park, which was done soon after. It was named after the commissioner at the time, Charles Crandon. How different from other parks the Crandon is says the fact that it also has a zoo – it all started in 1948 when only a few animals were purchased. However, the zoo grew over years, and today it is home to more than a thousand animals.

  • The park has something to offer to everyone – it is a park for recreation, parties, pleasure and relaxing. Both tourists and locals love it.
  • Parking costs 5 dollars during the week, while it costs 7 dollars on weekends.
  • The working hours of the park are from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m
